I was diagnosed with asthma at a young age, I’m currently 15. I’m trying to control my asthma so I can join the military, and basically not use an inhaler anymore. So far, I have 2 methods. When I’m actually having an attack, I breathe in slowly through my nose, then puff out really fast through my mouth. My second one is more preventive: aerobic exercise.

What other methods are there?

I have asthma, but lately I have experience burning of the chest, chills, chest pains, shortness of breath and a hack. I am use to wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath. I went to the doctor and she gave me an asthma treatment and this medicine called predisnone. It helped a little, but now my chest is burning. I also had a temperature of 99. Are asthma and bronchitis related?

I’m currently taking Singulair and I use an Albuterol Sulfate Proair HFA rescue inhaler.

Please let me know of your experience with steroid shots for asthma.

When i was a kid, i used to have serious troubles, with asthma, when i started running. But over time it passed, now when i start running, i can hold for a lot more time ( before - 5 mins/ now - 60+mins).
But theres always a slight inflamation and after 15 mins of running its starts to tighten my longs, but i can hold it. Im just afraid that during basic training i wont make it. Any tips?
